My Neuroses For Your Entertainment
GPOYW: flashback edition. Halloween, circa 2007. I dressed up as a cat, but not just any cat. I dressed up as a specific cat, one of the many free-roaming felines on our street that our apartment manager fed with prejudice or discretion. I called her Scratchy Jo. That might explain the look of trepidation on my face as I reach out to pet her.
Mom: Heidi, I found a cat you should follow on twitter.
Heidi: I’m sorry, what??! (to Dad) How does she know about twitter?
Dad: We live in different times…
(In case you were wondering, I am now following a cat on twitter, per my mom’s request. Life has gotten weird.)
Your reliance on technology upsets me greatly
My favorite LINUSINHATS.
No more cats today. I promise.
“Mom vs. (Hilarious Thing)” post soon. Right after I rewrite the glorious post TUMBLR DELETED LAST NIGHT.
Le sigh.
Linusfriend Heidi said something like, “Here he is in the wrong Andrew Lloyd Webber musical - Linus was supposed to be in Cats (natch), but he went for the gusto and IS THE PHANTOM YO”
Or it was not at all like that because I have a terrible memory and fill in the gaps with slang.
Here it is folks: ALL MY CRAZY. Above is my love for cats, the internet, and musicals combined into one freak show of a creation.
Yes, I follow a tumblr featuring a cat with hats and costumes drawn on it in Microsoft Paint (it’s hilarious, and the Amish one will always be my favorite). And, YES I responded to the author’s request for reader submissions. And, YES that response has references to musicals.
This is my crazy. And you know what? I’m ok with it. I’d so much rather be wacky and love cats/internet/musicals than be weird and love eating people/guns/psychotic drugs. And I bet you feel the same!
I tried to write another post about the strangeness that is Val the cat. There was no way to word the story I had in mind without exposing the strangeness that is Heidi the girl. So instead, I’ll just say this: sometimes I talk to cats…and forget that they have no clue what I am talking about since they are just cats.
Val is the boy’s roommate’s cat. She is strange.
Thing I Have Personally Discovered or Observed that Val is afraid of:
- plastic bags
- any type of crinkling or rustling sound that may remind her of plastic bags
- loud noises
- any noises
- hair dryers
- vacuum cleaners
- other cats trying to play with her
- people trying to play with her
- string
- being picked up by anyone except her owner
- people walking into a room
- laughter
- dancing
- jazz hands
Things Val is Completely Unafraid of:
- her owner
- the Great Outdoors
- peeing on mattresses
More observations (and possibly scientific testing) to follow.
I seem to have some new followers. Welcome!
I’d like to say thanks for showing some interest in my little corner of the world wide web and let you know what tends to comprise the contents of heidigarvin.tumblr.com:
My life. And how it is wonderful, interesting, and sometimes downright bizarre.
Cats!
Open letters to celebrities, fictional characters, places, people who I know in real life, and things.
Other people (namely my mom, my roommate, and the boy in my life) sure say funny/interesting things.
Pictures. Of wonderful/cute/funny experiences/people in my life. Oh, who am I kidding? Pictures of me. Sometimes doing cool things with other people.
My abhorrence for spelling and grammar errors.
Spelling and grammar errors.
Things I think.
Los Angeles.
Central California (A strange land of which most know nothing).
Strange facts about myself put on the internet for your enjoyment and amusement. And sometimes too much information.
You have been warned.
Thanks for your interest and enjoy!
